"THE PAIN" har både Håkon Vellesvik og Svein Finjarn som hovedvokalister med Eigil Berg støttende til i koret. En melodiøs boogie-rocker tydelig inspirert at det da så populære Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). Eigil spiller cembalo og Georg Keller har arrangert strykerne i fint samspill med Sveins lead-gitar. "THE PAIN" var eneste melodi fra "Hot Line" som kom seg på Europatoppen med en fin 5. plass i november 1980.
